My Morning w Hoover at A Local Austin Farm
Well, this morning we braved the alternating downpours and sizzling heat for a a photo shoot with Hoover Alexander at a local farm that is a part of Urban Patchwork – that’s right, urban farms that are being started all across the city of Austin, TX. Founded by Paige Hill, Urban Patchwork is creating a model for local residents to make a living as farmers within the city limits. Neighbors can pay a “subscription fee” allowing local farmers to buy seed and growing materials without going into debt. In return, neighbors get regular deliveries of organic locally grown fruit and vegetables. I was there with members of the latest Media Protege class and photographer Dwayne Hills to capture Hoover Alexander and his passion for locally grown and fresh ingredients. I’m very proud to have our students interacting with seasoned professionals as they develop a Web 3.0 campaign for the restaurant Hoover’s Cooking. Special thanks to Rachel Butler of FOOGS for introducing us to Paige and pictured above with me and the man Hoover himself, Keith McDormand. I can’t wait to see the rest of the pics and getting things rolling on the Hoover’s Cooking campaign.
